KTLA is looking for a flexible, creative, and ambitious writer to research, write, and produce a special events project. Accuracy, excellence in production techniques, descriptive writing, relevance to the viewing audience, and ability to generate ratings a must.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Researches and writes long form script for a two-hour broadcast.
Segment produces as needed.
Works directly with Executive Producers in big picture planning to develop content and script.
Research involves in person visits and information gathering with an emphasis on personal skills.
Attends editorial meetings.
Assists Executive Producer in creating and formatting live show rundown.
Excellent grammar skills with a diverse vocabulary and proficient at spelling
Work in concert with Executive Producers and hosts to build a show that is engaging and flows naturally.
Must meet deadlines and have strong prioritization & time management skills.
Must interact positively and productively with others and take feedback and constructive criticism comfortably.
Must be a leader in a strong team environment.
Must show initiative and have ability to act decisively.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
Fluency in English
5+ years of experience in content and script writing and producing that appeals to wide audiences.
Well organized and detail oriented
Ability to manage multiple projects of varying complexities, prioritize assignments, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including OneDrive and other office equipment as needed.
Compensation - $35/hr+ commensurate with experience and skill level
