Politics Reporter

Greenspun Media Group, publisher of the Las Vegas Sun, seeks an enterprising reporter to cover politics and government in Nevada. The beat encompasses the Nevada Legislature, state government administration and the broader machinery of the federal government affecting the region. This candidate will lead our coverage of the 2022 midterm election, which includes races for a U.S. Senate seat and governor. We strive to illuminate and hold government accountable, not simply document its activities. We focus on the why instead of the how, cutting through the clutter to show our readers why an issue matters and give them the insight they need to make informed decisions. Collaboration is a foundational element of our newsroom culture, so the reporter will be encouraged to add depth and strengthen perspective by working with colleagues across the storytelling spectrum. We also encourage our reporters to explore an array of storytelling formats, from long-form narratives to infographics to Q&As. The ideal candidate will have experience reporting on state or federal government, but we’re also interested in those who have excelled in other areas.
