As a Lead Line Editor, your essential responsibilities and duties will revolve around ensuring the quality, accuracy, and consistency of higher education online courses. You will edit higher education online courses at various editing levels, applying standards and style specified by the university client. You will complete editing tasks assigned in a thoughtful, thorough, and professional manner.

Deadlines: Course editing takes place on a pre-determined schedule. Once a project is accepted, editors are expected to complete the work during the specified timeframe and meet all deadlines.

Communication: Editors will communicate with the client editing partner, the instructional designers, and the lead instructional designer.

Editing levels include:

Grammar and usage
Style
Functionality
Logic and factual accuracy
Clarity and tone
Originality
Accessibility
Formatting
Alignment and consistency across all course documents
Work Management

What You'll Bring

Undergraduate degree in Journalism, Communications, English or a related field; in lieu of a degree practical experience will be considered
2+ years of editing experience covering all levels
Mastery of:Rules of grammar, usage, punctuation, sentence structure and mechanics

Chicago Manual of Style
APA citation style
Microsoft Word

Ability to review and revise content including spelling, grammar, punctuation and syntax
Strong critical review skills
Ability to evaluate qualitative writing style and quantitative adherence to style guides
Ability to follow a provided style guide and comprehensive technical guidelines
Capacity to work independently and stay on task with minimal supervision
Experience managing a team and resource planning
Extreme attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal skills
Strong sense of personal accountability and a continuous-improvement mindset
Flexible with changing directions and managing priorities to meet deadlines
Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
Fluent in Google Workspace or Microsoft Suite

Our ideal candidate also has the following qualifications:

Advanced degree in Journalism, Communications English or a related field
3+ years experience in K-12, Higher Education, or Workforce Learning and Development content, courses, and learning materials
6+ months experience working on FLG projects
Completion of the FLG Quality Assurance course
Technical Editor Certification (CTP, CPTC) or Copy Editor Certification (CIEP, ACES, EFA)
Experience editing in various Learning Management Systems (Canvas, Moodle) and Instructional Design tools (Articulate, Canva)
Experience editing K-12, Higher Education, or Workforce Learning and Development content
Previous experience working in a remote environment
Project management experience

This is a long term contract position requiring approximately 10-15 hours per week for an approximate duration of 12 months.

FLG is a fully remote organization. As a independent contractor, you have the flexibility and portability to manage your own schedule, while maintaining deliverables and communication with your team.
