If newspapers are in your blood and you’ve longed to live in Montana, Lee Enterprises is looking for a seasoned journalist to traffic news and sports pages mostly for the daily paper in Butte but also Helena, Missoula, Hamilton and Billings as needed. Though ideally our successful candidate would live in Butte, the beauty of the position is the ability to choose where you live and work in The Last Best Place. The person filling this role will shepherd pages through our regional design centers in Wisconsin and Indiana after receiving budgets from editors. Shifts are generally Sunday-Thursday nights producing sports and news sections, along with periodic special sections. Organizational skills, an eye for errors and the ability to juggle a variety of fast-paced tasks is essential. Typical shifts will be 3-midnight, leaving plenty of time during the days to enjoy and appreciate all of the outdoor and cultural opportunities Montana has to offer. You’ll be working each night with local editors who provide direction for stories they’ve edited, and then the distant designers who produce pages on the modules you choose. Some editing will be required in breaking-news situations. Lee Enterprises is an equal opportunity employer with an excellent benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, paid holidays and a generous paid time off policy. Salary depends on experience. Visit our websites at billingsgazette.com, missoulian, com, mtstandard.com, helenair.com, ravallirepublic.com and 406mtsports.com to see our work.
