Wisconsin Dells is a Midwest jewel. Home to Wisconsin’s top tourist destination, the region is in the heart of Wisconsin’s driftless area, an ancient landscape untouched by glaciers that offers unlimited outdoor pursuits. The area is also known for its lively arts and music scene.
We’re looking for a reporter to capture the vibe of Wisconsin Dells and deliver to readers through great news and feature stories.
For a storyteller, the region is a gold mine. Politically purple, its diverse population ranges from potato farmers to resort owners. Members of the Ho-Chunk Nation have always called the area home, and immigrant families and student workers regularly travel from South America and Eastern Europe to spend their summers working at the area tourist attractions.
The successful candidate will produce stories, photos and video for both the Wisconsin Dells Events and the Juneau County Star-Times, our two weekly publications. This reporter will also write enterprise stories that could run in the Wisconsin State Journal and three other central Wisconsin papers.
One to two years’ experience in journalism, either in school, internships or on the job, is preferred. Reporters must live in or near their coverage area to respond to breaking news.
To be considered for the position, apply online at madison.com/workhere (select “Baraboo” under location). As part of your online application, please attach a cover letter and five samples of your work or links to five recent stories. Candidates must have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license.
The deadline to apply is Sunday, Oct. 15.
