About the role
The Commissioning Editor, Texts will be instrumental in the future offerings of the New Zealand Content Management team. You will support the Texts team to grow the portfolio to meet ongoing customer needs and support revenue growth.
You will be able to formulate a good understanding of the core content offering and apply this to strategic content proposals based on a deep knowledge of segment and customer behaviours and personas.
This role will be expected to engage closely with various business stakeholders to gain approval on business cases and developments working in close collaboration with the Content Management team to maintain a strong understanding of the product, its value proposition and unique selling points.
This is a permanent full-time role that can be based in either Wellington or Auckland from our NZ offices. Some regular in-office time is preferable, but there is also the opportunity to work flexibly and from home.
Key Responsibilities
Awareness of developments, legislative reforms, procedures, case law and trends to inform content development decisions.
Ensure a concerted focus on commissioning that includes tikanga Māori, matauranga Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Identify and implement plans to harvest and/or discontinue underperforming titles, ability to prioritise developments to balance impactful development and revenue targets.
Business case development, delivery, and presentation for approval as per strategic plans for new content in close consultation with internal stakeholders.
Deliver business case proposals on existing content development opportunities to support growth within core content offering.
High quality and timely publication of text titles into their online formats to ensure end product meets customer need.
Develop close working relationships with our authors, customers and internal stakeholders, including Sales and Marketing teams.

To be successful, you’ll bring with you:
1-2 years of experience as a commissioning editor/content developer or equivalent experience in legal or publishing industries.
Experience working within the publishing and/or legal industry.
A working knowledge and experience of the publishing process preferred.
Highly organised and self-driven, with the ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
Strong communication and project management skills.
Superior reading and legal comprehension skills.
Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
Computer skills in Microsoft Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
