About the Role
In this role, you will be working to establish processes for content conversion, publishing, and maintenance. Alongside, you'll be implementing improvements to editorial and reporting functionality and processes. You will also assist with the editorial implementation of large-scale content projects.
Responsibilities:
Analyze impact of new legislation/rules on existing statutory/rule content and effectively communicate all primary law changes and additions, including contingencies, postponed treatments, unusual provisions, and multiple amendments.
Review and ensure proper editorial workup of new legislation; resolve outstanding issues; review section notes written by editors.
Acquire a firm understanding of editorial processes, jurisdictional style guidelines and employ best practices.
Effectively communicate legal and editorial knowledge to internal and external customers.
Address internal and external customer concerns and questions regarding our primary law content and conduct and/or participate in content quality review and audit.
Assist with customer feedback follow-up as needed and requested by the Practical Guidance content team.
Meet or exceed production standards by setting priorities and adhering to critical deadlines and production schedules. Regularly communicate product details/timelines, etc., to editorial coordinator(s), management and other departments as directed.
Regularly participate in professional development and training.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent legal degree, and Attorney admission
At least one to two years of editorial experience, preferred but not required
Excellent command of English language
Strong analytical, legal research, and writing skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication, a positive attitude, and professional demeanor employed in routine contact with geographically diverse colleagues, and customers.
Strong organizational skills with ability to adapt to changing business demands
Self-motivated and demonstrates initiative.
Ability to prioritize and multitask to meet critical deadlines.
Ability to quickly learn, retain, and become proficient in new software packages and technical skills including XML mark-up language and MS Office suite.
Shift:
Fostering real-time collaboration with colleagues and external authors in Canada, this position will work a shift of approximately 11AM – 7PM Central African Time, Monday - Friday
