About the Team & Role
We are looking for an Editor – Team Lead to join our fast-paced news & information bureau located in the Press Gallery at Parliament House in Canberra.
You will manage the workflow and operations of a vibrant editorial team and oversee the collection, editing and publication of all content to subscribers via alerts, newsletters, and live webpage updates.
A key to your success will be your ability to understand the complexity of parliamentary procedure and legal content, as well as the needs of our subscribers.
This is a permanent full-time role reporting to the Head of Current Awareness. The role is strictly performed at our offices in parliament house and requires flexibility with working hours to support parliamentary sitting schedules, and editorial operations. Occasional weekend work is also required.
Key responsibilities:
Day-to-day content – responsibilities include content aggregation and delivery to subscribers via alerts, newsletters, and live content page updates as well as editing and quality control for currency, accuracy, and format.
Day-to-day team - this role leads the editorial team (comprised of casual sub-editors and editorial assistants). Responsibilities include managing the team’s operations as they collect, title, format and summarize news & information, as well as staff resourcing and administration, coaching and development.
Collaborates with internal stakeholders from other business units (product development, technical support, and the commercial teams) as the content subject matter expert.
Engages with customers and tracks government policy and other legal/ social/ technological trends to ensure we understand the existing and emergent content requirements of the market.

About you
If you have a growth mindset, an interest in public discourse, and legislation-making, as well as demonstrated experience (2+ years) in editing, online publishing and / or paid-subscription content management this may be the role for you.
High attention to detail, exceptional communication and presentation skills plus solid research, analytical and problem-solving skills will help you excel in this role.
