Leading media business seeks an experienced Senior Reporter to join their team.

The primary purpose of this role is to write news and analysis for an industry leading intellectual property (IP) title.

Our clients offering a highly bespoke subscription platform that reports on global developments in the IP legal sector.

The main industry segments they cover are patents, trademarks and copyright, and the major business sectors include technology, pharmaceuticals and fast-moving consumer goods.

Their readers comprise law firms, companies, public institutions and other organisations.The Role:

They are looking for a reporter to produce a range of high-quality content, including analysis of IP law firm strategy, other long-form articles, and exclusive news. This blend has made them the go-to publication for scoops and intelligence that cant be found elsewhere.

They also publish special projects as well as a weekly roundup of news. All content is published on the site and distributed to subscribers via email newsletters.The successful candidate will pitch and write regular articles and be a key part of their reporting team.

Pitching and writing several articles per week, plus news snippets and other content as required
Ultimately be responsible for unearthing regular exclusives
Making and cultivating new sources, especially in-house executives, via phone calls and in-person meetings
Building your professional profile to help boost brand awareness
Publishing content and being active on social media
Developing a keen awareness of our clients readership and its interests, adapting the titles coverage accordingly using Google Analytics and customer feedback to measure performance
Attending, chairing and reporting on industry conferences
Publishing all content to CMS and compiling newsletters
Collaborating with other team members and other functions

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Two years + as a reporter, ideally demonstrable experience of learning a new area
Ideally a journalism qualification - NCTJ
Excellent written English
Passion for journalism
Strong reporting and interviewing skills
A keen eye for a story
Able to network well and build a strong book of contacts
Efficient, organised and able to meet deadlines and prioritise
Able to work well under pressure
Team player
Strong communicator Inquisitive and willing to learn, especially about complex subject matter
Understanding of how B2B journalism works
Sound knowledge of, and interest in, the business sector
Bachelors degree or higher preferred
