We’re looking for a Channel Editor to lead our strategy around cutting edge technology, as viewed through the lens of science. You'll shape technology coverage on one of the world’s biggest, most respected science brands and have the opportunity to build the section, and source its contributors, from scratch.
What you’ll be doing
As Channel Editor you'll help bring the overall vision for Live Science to life with incredible stories about robotics, artificial intelligence, quantum computing and a whole lot more. You'll edit and fact/source check all content that you create or commission, and ensure it fits our house style. Working with the Editor-in-Chief, you'll create coherent technology strategies for the brand across news, long-tail and ecomm content, and collaborate with the Audience team to SEO optimise all technology content - old and new - to make sure it’s as visible as possible in Google.
You'll be managing Staff Writers and be the point of contact for all technology content enquiries from internal and external partners, contributing experts, and freelancers, oversee a budget for freelancer contributors and write copy and pitch news and features as needed.
Experience that will put you ahead of the curve
Editorial experience, ideally within a science publication.
Knowledge of SEO and experience creating online content.
A degree within a STEM subject, or equivalent experience.
Experience in commissioning pieces to freelance writers.
Proven ability in writing, as well as editing for a US audience.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
