Are you ambitious, passionate, design-obsessed, editorially minded and results-driven? We are looking for a brilliant Editor-in Chief to lead one of our most important and successful brands, Livingetc, the interiors magazine that focuses on the now and the next in home design and decor. As a senior leader, you’ll be responsible for all the content and tasked with growing audiences and revenues across print, digital and social platforms. You’ll also work closely with commercial stakeholders and run a thriving team based in both New York and London. This is a hugely exciting and rare opportunity to be part of the senior leadership team running the world’s fastest-growing Shelter media brand, and the market leader in the contemporary design space.

What you'll be doing...

The ultimate mission of the Editor-in-Chief is to build audience and drive e-commerce revenue across all Livingetc channels. You will be responsible for delivering best-in-the-market content that is in line with the brand strategy, delights its target market and supports commercial ambitions. You’ll be ambitious for the success of the Livingetc, constantly striving for growth and pivoting as needed to ensure the brand wins. You’ll be a perfectionist editor and commissioner, and you’ll ensure that your team operates to deadline and in budget. SEO and digital best practice will be part of your toolkit. An incredible ideator, you’ll have strong visual skills, and be able to select a great image and curate a stunning layout. You’ll run the forward planner, content calendar and output planner, and work closely with central centers of excellence to train your team to be the best. You’ll be a figurehead for the brand, networking and building relationships with clients and industry contacts.

The production of market-leading content for your brand, from writing through commissioning through editing.
Optimizing the performance of all content on our website by managing processes and using data to drive action
All content planning for your brand - including building pyramids, maintaining and updating features lists, tentpole planning.
Driving e-commerce revenue through smart, on-brand shopping content and product inclusions
Managing your team to ensure you meet output goals set by the senior leadership team while maintaining best-quality standards.
Protecting and developing the Livingetc POV and brand voice.
Managing your freelance budget and team resources to meet the business objectives. Prioritize work in order to meet brand requirements
Foster a culture of ideas generation and pitching – identify trends and timely news/feature/shoot ideas relevant to the brand.
Ensuring all content on your platforms is compliant legally
Representing the brand internally and externally; hosting events and industry networking.

Experience that will put you ahead of the curve…

Min 5 years of relevant editorial experience with proven background in digital and print media.
Exceptional writing and editing skills - from the ability to write snappy headlines to tight grammar control, through to the ability to source the right image to draw people in.
Understanding of principles of building audiences on websites and knowledge of different acquisition channels
Experience of and skills in driving affiliate revenues
In-depth knowledge of all the key content distribution channels
First-rate knowledge of editorial SEO and analytics packages
A strong understanding of and keen interest in homes and interiors, and an ability to write for American audiences. Excellent industry contacts.
Strong commercial thinker
Experience of managing budgets
Superb people manager. Ability to work as part of a broader senior management team and support the goals of others.
A great communicator and collaborative team player - both with the industry and the wider Future team - to allow you both to sell our brands to the industry but also extract the knowledge we already have in the business and apply it.

This is a Hybrid role from our New York office, working three days from the office, two from home
