Local News Editor

The Greenfield Recorder and Athol Daily News seeks a full-time local news editor to be part of a hardworking team of journalists focused on covering Franklin County and the North Quabbin region. The local news editor will be responsible for coordinating and editing local news coverage for the Athol Daily News and providing daily editorial support to the Greenfield Recorder/Athol Daily News team. The local news editor is the principal assignment editor for the ADN and also is expected to compile news and information at times. The desirable candidate has strong editing and writing skills and is someone who can bring original ideas and deliver constructive feedback to an eclectic range of writers. Experience with photography and social media is highly desired. Working with newsroom staff, the local news editor also will be expected to take a multimedia approach to delivering coverage for our digital audiences. This is a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment requiring strong multi-tasking and organizational skills. The local news editor must be a team player who will be asked to work occasional nights or weekends. The position is based in Greenfield, MA. Interested?
