We are searching for a Localization Editor to provide linguistic advice, gather and process feedback from internal and external sources, translate, review, edit, and write text to help us deliver not only a mere translation of our game but a first-class, culturally relevant experience to our German speaking players. The Localization Editor will also be responsible for the creation and maintenance of glossaries and style guides to ensure that language remains consistent and is shared among all stake holders.
Working closely with the internal Localization and QA team, external Localization vendors, and our development studio, the German Localization Editor ensures that localized in-game assets always meet high-quality AAA standards, coordinates with various teams to meet Localization milestones, signs off on feature Localization, and shares feedback, ideas, and suggestions to consistently improve the Localization processes.
Experience in game or software Localization/QA is helpful but not required. Familiarity with or a passion for creative storytelling, specifically video games, and knowledge of fantasy and/or science fiction worlds is also highly desirable.
Responsibilities
Provide detail-orientated review of all localized content in-game and out-of-game text for quality, consistency, and correct understanding of mechanics, story, and lore
Create and maintain glossaries and style guides, addressing any inconsistencies or mistakes
Ensure high quality across all localization assets including glossary, style guides, and localized content that meets or exceeds established requirements
Collaborate closely with internal teams and external vendors, including regular terminology and workflow discussions.
Fix linguistic bugs in-game and report source language bugs as needed
Provide linguistic feedback and guidance to related stakeholders
Adhere to linguistic, cultural, and industry standards for all translation requests
Translate and localize in-game and out-of-game text as needed
Handle other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
Native proficiency in German and near native fluency in English
Excellent German spelling and grammar
Excellent writing/editing skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Strong attention to detail and dedication to quality
Sensitivity and empathy when working across cultures
Familiarity with creative story-telling elements, conventions, and tropes
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment within deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
A degree in writing, editing, translation, or relevant fields or equivalent experience
Proficiency with CAT tools, such as MemoQ
Knowledge of localization tools, processes, and software
Passion for video games (with an emphasis on MMOs)
Intimate knowledge of the Blade & Soul franchise
