The Los Angeles Times is looking for a temporary part-time assistant editor for its Lifestyle and West Coast Experiences teams. The successful candidate should have experience editing internal and freelance writers for clarity, structure and tone and be skilled at writing engaging headlines and email subject lines. The editor will line edit newsletters, including The Wild and Escapes, as well as guides focusing on things to do in Southern California. The editor will have to build freelance pieces in our content management system and should be comfortable communicating on Slack with various stakeholders, including art directors, writers and other editors. The editor will work roughly 10 hours per week, with the potential for more hours based on business needs. Editors must be available for four hours on Tuesdays before 4 p.m. PST for newsletter editing. This position can be done remotely and is expected to last for four months.
