Magnolia Tribune is a digital only non-profit newsroom dedicated to the mission of "Telling Mississippi's True Story." We are looking for a dynamic, creative person to manage our digital presence and help take the organization to the next level.
Responsibilities
The person hired to serve as Digital Media Specialist will be responsible for developing and executing our digital strategy, including:
Growing and maintaining our subscriber list (currently 70,000+).
Putting together our daily newsletter, which goes out 6 days a week.
Supercharging our social media engagement (currently 33,000+ followers)
Exploring new mediums and platforms on which to distribute our content (such as video platforms like YouTube).
Overseeing SEO for the site.
Interfacing with web developer, other media outlets & creative vendors.
Brand management to ensure consistently and adherence to brand guide.
Qualifications
The person hired to serve as Digital Media Specialist should have:
Strong written and verbal communications, as well as strong organization skills.
Creativity and an eye for the aesthetic.
A self-learner who is able to think "outside the box," evolve, and meet deadlines.
Experience growing and managing social media accounts.
Ability to work collaboratively with team and manage outside vendors.
The following skills and experience are preferred, but not required:
Relevant experience in a digital newsroom.
Experience with Google search console, Google analytics and Google ads.
Experience managing SEO.
Experience with email marketing on a platform like Mailchimp or Constant Contact
Basic graphic design, web design, or video editing ability.
Magnolia Tribune will send the Digital Media Specialist to SEO training school and invest in other appropriate professional development to ensure the person is equipped for success.
