We are seeking a talented and experienced Data Journalist to join our team at MailOnline. The role is based full-time in our London newsroom and gives you the chance to make a real impact by telling important stories with data. As a Data Journalist you will play a vital role in transforming information into engaging and informative stories that resonate with a national or global audience.
Responsibilities
Generate your own ideas for articles based on data analysis
Handle large datasets using spreadsheets such as Google Sheets or Excel
Explore data and extract meaningful insights for articles across a wide range of subjects and sections
Collaborate with a team of journalists and designers to create compelling data-driven stories
Use statistical analysis and data visualisation tools to present complex information in an engaging way
Help to improve data literacy of our reporters and collaborate to help upskill our teams
Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Stay up-to-date on the latest data journalism trends and techniques
Skills and qualifications
Degree in journalism, data science, statistics, or a related field
Experience as a Data Journalist or a related role, ideally in the publishing industry
Proven ability to generate original ideas for data-driven stories
Experience with programming languages used by data journalists, such as Python and R
Knowledge of basic HTML and CSS
Understanding of web page design
