MailOnline is looking for a talented News SEO Editor to join its team in London. Suitable candidates will have a strong background in search engine optimisation tailored specifically for news articles and experience of working in a newsroom environment.
Applicants must demonstrate a sound understanding of SEO best practices and be able to apply those principles in a fast-paced digital publishing setting to drive traffic to our website, increase user engagement and contribute to our mission of delivering quality journalism to our readers. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, thrive under pressure and have a passion for growing new audiences and driving traffic to the Mail brand.
Requirements and accountabilities
Significant newsroom experience and a background of working on a news desk
Solid knowledge of current events and trends to inform relevant news coverage
Familiarity with a range of SEO tools (eg SEMRush, Google Trends, News Dashboard)
Ability to spot trends, identify traffic-driving opportunities and communicate those to the newsroom
Make recommendations on SEO best practices and optimise stories
Sound understanding of Google Discover, Google News, organic search and Top Stories
Be an enthusiastic evangelist for SEO in the newsroom
Flexibility regarding shift patterns (evening and weekends will be required)
