Managing Editor / Reporter

The Itawamba County Times and its parent company, Journal Inc., is looking for a managing editor/reporter. The Itawamba County Times is a weekly newspaper covering Itawamba County and the city of Fulton, located in Northeast Mississippi. Itawamba County is home to Itawamba Community College, the Tammy Wynette Memorial Park honoring the birthplace of the First Lady of Country Music, a beautiful marina, great outdoors activities and small communities brimming with interesting people. The Itawamba County Times is one of our top news-producing products, routinely placing stories in our daliy Top 10 digital report. The managing editor will oversee all editorial duties for the newspaper, including reporting, photography, print lineups and website content. The managing editor also will work closely with the news editor and executive editor for the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal on shared and regional content. We are looking for an energetic reporter who is ready to step up and take on more responsibility. The right candidate has a wide variety of interests and is able to switch gears between reporting hard news, writing features and delving into complicated issues faced by people living in rural Mississippi. Interest in sports coverage is also a plus.
