Freelance Writer:
Marketing.com is seeking an experienced copywriter to create original web-based content for a variety of clients in various industries, along with occasional editing projects. A background in business/technical writing is preferred. The ideal candidate should understand traditional as well as new media, and be equally comfortable writing newsletter copy, brochures, website copy, case studies, whitepapers, social media calendars, press releases, and blogs. Additionally, the candidate should also be a skilled proofreader and editor with an advanced understanding of AP style and should be available to take on short notice writing assignments as needed. This is a freelance, off-site position.
Specific responsibilities:
Produce copy (off-site articles, on-site blog posts, website content) reflecting the client’s brand voice and strategic objectives and utilizing search engine optimization (SEO) best practices
A background in business/technical writing is preferred
Understanding client specifications to craft copy that is on-brand
Proofread and edit marketing materials for clarity, style consistency, spelling, and grammar
Keep copy consistent and identifiable for each client
Perform research and translate complex material into clear, concise, consumer-friendly copy
Adhering to ever-changing deadlines while consistently delivering accurate rounds of revisions
Familiarizing yourself with clients’ products and services, target audience, and competitor activity
Required qualifications:
Strong research skills
Keep up to date with popular culture and industry updates
Knowledge of AP Style and digital media best practices
Experience in writing strong, succinct copy that is grammatically correct
A flexible approach and willingness to adapt ideas to the needs of clients
A minimum of 4 years of professional experience as a copywriter in a corporate, freelance, or agency environment
Excellent writing skills, including the ability to write in a range of voices and styles for a variety of projects with diverse audiences
Ability to communicate, collaborate and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment and meet deadlines
