Associate Producer / Producer, MPR News (MN Now)

New Posted 19 October 2022 | St. Paul, Minnesota | Minnesota Public Radio

As the full-time Associate Producer or Producer for Minnesota Now, you will work closely with the host and the lead producer of our daily, local news program. We are constantly trying new ideas and experimenting with new ways of engaging our audience on air and online. Every day you bring your creativity and your smarts and ping off your excellent teammates. Your role is to co-produce the program for air and web. Alongside the rest of the production team, you will be expected to pitch ideas for interviews, book guests, edit audio interviews, direct the live show, troubleshoot challenges, and ensure MPR News content is reaching digital audiences. You may also be asked to work with reporters, editors and others across the newsroom. Candidates need to be curious, patient with details and double-checking facts for accuracy, have a love of interesting stories, and an ability to handle quick deadlines. Minnesota is approaching 20 percent Black, Indigenous and People of Color and the Twin Cities metro area is approaching 30 percent BIPOC. We need conversations and reporting that reflect our population. Your role is primarily dedicated to producing Minnesota Now, but you could be asked to work for any MPR News program.
