We are looking for a talented and soccer-obsessed US head of content to join our global 90min content team. You will be working from home.
You will cover the biggest soccer stories in news, list and opinion format, be required to work to tight deadlines and handle multiple responsibilities outside of daily tasks.
Candidates must understand what North American soccer fans want to read and how to reach them. You will be a self-starter, with excellent communications skills and attention to detail, as well as a determination to make a meaningful impact.
What You'll Do
Lead 90min’s US editorial content strategy, ensuring high quality standards.
Write and edit articles on North American football.
Manage a team of writers and freelancers from across the US.
Help create a written content strategy to substantially grow 90min’s US edition audience.
Provide regular reporting on the US edition with key insights and context.
Identify opportunities to grow our user base and maximize audience consumption.
Ensure output from our commercial partnerships with Bundesliga, MLS and Serie A.
Coordinate communication with the US creative content lead on any commercial projects and responsibilities.
Coordinate with the 90min social team on US-based initiatives.
Share knowledge and insights with fellow 90min heads of content from around the world, especially the UK.
Collaborate with 90min heads of content to create content for global tentpole events (such as Copa America, the Euros, Champions League final).
Requirements
What you'll have
Live (and be able to work) in the US.
Be educated to degree level and have journalism qualifications.
At least two years’ journalism experience, ideally within sport.
Both a good knowledge of and a strong passion for MLS and North American soccer (mens and womens).
A data-driven approach to growing digital audiences.
