We’re hiring a Social Graphics & Thumbnail Designer Intern to join our growing team. You’ll help expand the impact and reach of our work by creating graphics for Instagram and other social platforms, and by designing thumbnails that drive engagement with our original videos. You’ll also spend time publishing graphics content to social media and strategizing new opportunities to use graphics to advance our organization’s mission.

You will be part of a small, highly collaborative social media and distribution team, but you’ll regularly work with staff across the broader editorial organization.

We’re looking for candidates who are passionate and knowledgeable about graphic design, about economic justice, and about thinking creatively and strategically about how our content can have the most profound possible impact on the world.

Core Responsibilities:

Work with the Digital Strategist and the Graphic Designer to create shareable graphics, carousels, and memes for Instagram and other social platforms;

Work with Digital Strategist and the Graphic Designer to create video titles and thumbnails to drive engagement and reach on YouTube and other social platforms;

Assist with other aspects of social distribution, including scheduling content, community management, and optimizing posts for engagement and search;

Monitor analytics, audience sentiments, and social media trends;

Identify important, interesting, or underreported stories/facts/memes and use them to create compelling social media content;

Receive assignments from supervisor and colleagues for prompt action;

Operate in a nimble environment;

Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience/Qualifications:

Passion for, and substantial knowledge of, national politics and economic justice issues;

Regular user of social media, in particular Instagram and YouTube;

An excellent writer, communicator and collaborator, with strong interpersonal skills;

Experience creating graphics and/or thumbnails for social media;

A self-starter who pays close attention to detail and is highly organized and capable of meeting tight deadlines;

Available full-time hours and able to excel in a remote - work from home environment.
