KSNT 27 News is looking for the next leader to join our team as our primary morning and lifestyle anchor. We are looking for an individual who is a team player and strong writer. The anchor will play an active role in the morning show and daily news development, participating in editorial decisions, script review, writing and working with producers throughout their shift. An ethical journalist with strong storytelling skills and a desire to be an active member of the newsroom and Topeka community will thrive in this position.

You will truly be the face of morning TV across Northeast Kansas! Our morning news show is live from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. M-F, simulcast on the NBC and ABC affiliates in the market. The lifestyle show runs from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. M-F on the FOX affiliate in the market. You would also fill in on alternate shifts, as needed.

Located between University of Kansas and Kansas State University, Topeka is located just an hour from Kansas City and is a growing metropolitan area for young professionals. Our cost of living is low, our people are nice and traffic is not really a thing here.

The Morning News & Lifestyle Anchor serves as the primary presenter of news stories and other content for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging, and meaningful to news consumers.

Presents news stories and other content for all platforms.
Ensures that all news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
Writes and delivers news stories in a clear and concise manner.
Assists in writing, copy editing, researching, and coordinating news programming and other content.
Conducts interviews with news personnel and others.
Responds to breaking news and other urgent newsrooms situations as required.
Participates in promotional activities including public appearances.
Writes content for the website and other eMedia platforms.
Researching show topics and developing questions for guests.
Interacts with viewers/users on social media sites.
Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
Newsroom experience with superior on-air delivery.
Excellent organizational and communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required.
Excellent news judgment with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers, and issues.
Must be energetic, positive and great in a team environment.
Must be highly motivated self-starter, able to work well alone and as part of a team.
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Fluency in English.
Flexibility to work any shift.
