We are seeking a dynamic and self-motivated Managing Editor to lead the Effingham Herald in Rincon, Georgia. Key Responsibilities:
Overseeing Daily Operations: Plan, schedule, and coordinate editorial activities to ensure timely content delivery.
Team Management: Supervise and mentor a team of stringers, fostering efficient workflows and high-quality content.
Content Planning and Execution: Develop and implement content strategies, generate story ideas, assign tasks, and ensure adherence to editorial guidelines and deadlines.
Quality Control: Edit and proofread content, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to style guides.
Budget Management: Oversee the newsroom budget, ensuring effective use of resources.
Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as marketing and design, to ensure a cohesive and effective product.
Performance Monitoring: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess content effectiveness and make data-driven decisions.
Problem-Solving: Address any issues or conflicts that arise within the publication's content.
Strategic Planning: Contribute to the overall strategic direction of the publication, staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.
Community Engagement: Actively engage with the community, building relationships to inform and enhance news coverage.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of editorial experience, preferably in a community news setting.
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading abilities.
Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Proficiency in Adobe InDesign or similar program is a plus.
Experience with budget management.
Familiarity with best practices for local newspapers.
Experience in developing digital readership and newsletters is a plus.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
