As part of the SuperTalk Mississippi News team, you can leverage your talents to share engaging stories that cultivate thoughtful conversations among Mississippians which foster informed and engaged communities.

SuperTalk Mississippi News is a statewide news network that delivers Mississippi-focused news to more than 45 radio stations throughout the State and produces daily news and sports content on a variety of platforms including the internet and social media sites. SuperTalk Mississippi News is owned and operated by SuperTalk Mississippi Media which has been in business for almost 40 years. In addition to SuperTalk Mississippi News, SuperTalk Mississippi Media owns and manages more than 26 radio stations throughout the State of Mississippi as well as the SuperTalk Mississippi and Mississippi AgriNews Networks.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Record, edit, and produce radio newscasts.
Gather information for newsworthy stories through observation, interviews, investigation, and research.
Build a network of sources for interviews.
Attend press conferences and events while reporting on political news, human interest stories, crimes, and natural disasters.
Take photographs, video, or audio recordings to document events and facts.
Analyze facts and information and determine the most effective way to tell the story.
Write and report stories and updates for use online and on radio broadcasts.
Create engaging social media posts to promote online content.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, English, or related field (*Experience may be substituted for education).
Previous on-air experience preferred.
Able to maintain an ethical, honest, and objective standard in reporting.
Adaptable and able to build rapport with a diverse array of people.
Disciplined with strong time management skills and able to work to deadlines.
Superb research and writing skills.
Creative and inquiring mind.
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Knowledge of communications media, telecommunications technology, and social media platforms preferred.
Knowledge of Burley software preferred.

A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record is required.
