The Opportunity:
Postmedia is proud to participate in Canada's 'Local Journalism Initiative' (LJI) program. This program supports local civic journalism covering the diverse needs of underserved communities across the country.

The Sault Star is looking for a multimedia journalist (Local Journalism Initiative) who can deliver well-crafted news and feature stories, take photographs, and video and paginate print pages.

The Star publishes three days a week and enjoys a leadership role in the community as the newspaper of record in Greater Sault Ste Marie. The Star has emerged as one of the premier community daily newspapers in the province both in print and on the Web, winning multiple Ontario Newspaper Awards and drawing millions of page views on our website every year.

What you'll do:

Write and edit stories for print and our website.
Shoot, edit and appear in videos regularly.
Shoot still photos.
Generate story/feature ideas.
Engage in energetic use of social media.

Qualifications
Who you are:

Candidates should have a journalism degree or diploma.
A reliable car and a valid driver's license are needed. There are regular weekend and night shifts.
Ability to edit videos using iMovie or Final Cut Express is an asset.
Good knowledge of social media, including Facebook and Twitter.
A working knowledge of WordPress is also an asset.
