We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Editor to join our team.
You’ll be in the Magazine team, which is part of the Marketing team, in the Communications and Marketing directorate. As a key part of our small, friendly team, you’ll work extensively with colleagues both centrally and extensively across the whole of the National Trust.

What you'll be doing
Role
This varied role will see you get involved in every element of the print and digital magazine process. With colleagues, you will:
Create, develop and edit engaging and inspiring print and digital magazine content
Commission, research, interview and interview, writing and editing a wide range of content for our print and digital editions.
Work with freelancers and respond to readers
Be involved in image and layout selection
Manage stakeholders and fact-checks
Contribute to the smooth running of the production workflow
Ensure the highest editorial standards are met
Manage the production of our audio edition.
Who we're looking for

We’d Love To Hear From You If You
Have excellent, demonstrable knowledge of what makes a good magazine, including editorial style and publishing processes
Can manage the flow of content between the sub-editor, proof-reader, picture researcher, designers, digital and audio production teams, both digitally and in print
Have a proven background of being part of a small team and can work closely with colleagues and independently, as well as engaging confidently with stakeholders at all levels of seniority
Are unfazed by challenges and pressure – you’ll seek out solutions in the best interests of our team and the organisation as a whole
Are happy to take on a fair share of the-day-to day administrative workload of the team, including but not restricted to reader correspondence, surveys, reader panel and research work.
We’re particularly interested to hear from applicants with experience of and interest in working on digital magazine content and optimising print content for digital magazines.
