NBC News Digital is hiring an experienced politics editor who will take the lead in driving our day-to-day political coverage of the midterms, 2024 election, and in Washington and around the nation. You are competitive and scoop-driven. You can think of the angles off the biggest races that will lead to revelatory journalism, and you can manage our slate of world class reporters in finding the sharpest angles on the major candidates, political figures, and news of the day. You will be able to edit copy so that it feels electric — urgent, impactful, revelatory, contextual, and of course, accurate. You’ll take on spot/breaking news, exclusives, and enterprise pieces. For breaking news, the politics editor will have the ability to craft alerts in minutes, operate quickly to publish short stories, have a keen eye for ledes and the skill to write sharp headlines fast. For enterprise stories, the politics editor will be a font of original story ideas focused on the midterms and then through the general election, capturing local and national issues that include racial and economic inequality,
