New Hampshire Public Radio seeks a producer to join its Podcast team, a multi-media team that creates and distributes the weekly podcasts Outside/In and Civics 101, reporting to the Executive Producer. This is a hybrid eligible role with in-person requirements for fund drives, team meetings and annual all-staff events. A maximum of 100 miles commuting distance is preferred, but other locations will be considered on a case by case basis. Candidates with a love of narrative audio, a fascination with stories related to the environment, public policy/civics, and enthusiasm for digital media are encouraged to apply.

As a producer, you will play an active role in the production process of Outside/In, from researching and pitching story ideas, gathering tape, writing and reporting stories, mixing audio drafts, participating in group edits, creating and posting social media and newsletter content; and participating in marketing efforts such as promotional swaps and feed drops. The position will primarily work with the Outside/In team, with some crossover work on Civics 101

You will support the hosts and other producers in their work, booking guests and assisting with production or post-production work, i.e., transcription, web posts, social media, and audience engagement. This is primarily where your work will cross over with Civics 101, which requires production support with booking, research, audience engagement, and promotional support. 

This position works closely with the Executive Producer of Outside/In, the Director of On-Demand Audio and the rest of the team. As with all content roles at NHPR, you will occasionally collaborate with the local news and broadcast team and participate in station fundraising activities. 

Key Responsibilities:

Pitch ideas and research show topics for Outside/In and Civics 101.
Support production of podcast episodes for both teams as needed (i.e., booking, basic production help, post-production digital and social engagement).
Report and produce episodes for Outside/In. 
Participate in group edits as needed.
Write drafts of show notes, web posts, newsletters, and social media copy.
Support audience growth activities (i.e., promo swaps, feed drops, marketing pitches) for Outside/In and Civics 101.
Participate in station projects as appropriate in alignment with station needs/priorities, including election coverage, on-air fundraisers, and broadcast special production.

Support production/produce terrestrial broadcast segments.
Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:

Minimum of one year of experience in on-demand audio reporting or production, preferably in formats that include narrative-driven storytelling. 
Demonstrable multi-track audio editing/mixing skills in Adobe Audition or similar platforms. 
Demonstrable office technology skills, including platforms such as Google Docs, Microsoft Office, Slack (or similar), etc.
An ear for 'great tape' and demonstrated ability to find (and book) diverse, interesting sources
Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work under deadlines.
Ability to both work independently and collaborate with a team in a hybrid/remote environment.
Strong writing skills, including script, digital, and social copy, and a general understanding of social media best practices. 
Excellent editorial judgment and understanding that they will be expected to abide by NHPR's Code of Journalistic Ethics

Preferred Skills and Experience: 

Multi-media skills (i.e., social video/photo experience) strongly desired
Experience in science/climate/environmental/political journalism is preferred but not required.  
B.A. in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

Compensation & Benefits:

This is a full-time, exempt, SAG-Aftra union position, and the salary range for this role is $53,700 – 62,649K annually.
