The Tax Law Center at the NYU School of Law is seeking a full-time Communications & Development Associate to help implement a comprehensive communications and development plan.
You are a detail-oriented self-starter and a strong writer and communicator who is excited to support the evolving communications and development needs of a growing Center within NYU School of Law. You have a track record of delivering results on assignments and overcoming obstacles. You are highly organized and excel at balancing time-sensitive requests and competing priorities.
Responsibilities
The Communications & Development Associate, who will report to the External Affairs Director or Associate Director, will be responsible for:
Working in close collaboration with the External Affairs Director or Associate Director to conduct daily media monitoring and tracking of key reporter contacts, both in the news and on social media, as well as working with program staff to assist with substantive issue and news monitoring
Managing the Center's website, including adding and updating approved content, using site analytics to monitor and optimize traffic, and collaborating with NYU staff for web support
Researching potential donors and funders, as well as tracking donor relationships and outreach
Keeping abreast of new funding opportunities in philanthropy by tracking the relevant funding communities, key staffing changes, funding for peer organizations, and through networking
Maintaining a fundraising calendar and drafting donor correspondence, grant reports, and grant proposals
Maintaining an updated list of key stakeholders and working with the Operations team to manage key contacts and interactions
Maintaining the Center's internal style guides and templates, and ensuring consistent application across the Center's work product
Organizing events with donors, allies, and partners
Assisting the External Affairs Director or Associate Director with other communications and development tasks as required
Requirements
3+ years of communications or development experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a track record of strong writing
A high degree of organization, time-management skills, and attention to detail
Ability to juggle multiple project workstreams
Independent judgment, proactive orientation, and the ability to identify gaps or opportunities and take initiative
Interest in developing new skills across multiple aspects of communication, in a rapidly-changing communications landscape
Commitment to advancing the Center's mission
Interest in public interest operations, fundraising and development, and communications

Experience with one or more of the following or similar tools:
CSM: WordPress, Squarespace, Drupal
CRM: Mailchimp, EveryAction
Design: Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, Figma
Ads: Google Ads, Facebook Ads Manager
Ability to design simple digital products using basic design software
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
