Sports Reporter, Cairns

Based in Cairns, you will work with a team that prides itself on delivering the biggest and best news & sport content in Cairns. This is a pivotal reporting role, producing stories for online and a paper that is authoritative, engaging and sets the news agenda for the local community.

What’s the role?
Deliver unique sports content, drive conversation and socially-engage our readers
Sourcing and creating compelling content that is consumer relevant across multiple platforms
Engage audiences across both print and digital publications
Producing social media content
Work under deadline pressure in a fast paced newsroom
Create and expand upon a broad network of contacts in the sports industry and local community

Who are you?
Previous reporting and newsroom experience
Experience writing quality content to tight deadlines
Able to produce engaging and snappy copy, take photos when required and shoot video
Strong interview skills and news judgement
You will be required to work on weekends and occasionally will need to work a night shift
You are a team player with excellent communication skills and knowledge of an extensive range of topics
