News Culture Editor

OSV News is seeking an experienced writer and editor with a strong understanding of the Catholic Church to work with a team of columnists to provide excellent commentary on the Catholic Church from a range of viewpoints. Position reports to Editor-in-Chief of OSV News.

Essential Job Functions:

Manage a diverse team of freelance columnists
Ensure that copy is accurate and within the bounds of Catholic teaching
Provide and acquire additional commentary in anticipation of, or in response to, Church/societal events
Turn around copy quickly and professionally
Play a key role on the OSV News team, contributing to content planning and special projects as needed
Participate in a team-centric environment that adheres to the Catholic Media Association’s Fair Publishing Practices Code

Requirements

Skills and Abilities:

Exemplary writing and editing skills
Strong knowledge of the Catholic Church and its structure
Good organizational skills
A passion for accuracy and truth-telling
Ability to effectively manage a team of writers
Ability to work well within a team
Strong knowledge of AP style

Experience:

Minimum 5-8 years of experience
Strong knowledge of the Catholic Church

Working Environment:

Incumbent will be working in a remote office environment
Must be able to sit for the majority of their shift
