Trading as emap for its B2B division, Metropolis International is a fast-growing business, privately owned Media Group with over £50m of annual revenue, structured in two divisions consumer media, and business-to-business media. In both parts of the business, we run print magazines, digital content and both face-to-face and virtual awards, conferences, and other events. Metropolis is actively looking at acquiring more media businesses. We employ over 480 people in offices in West London, Croydon, Fleet street, Devon and Dublin.
Mortgage Strategy is the UKs leading source of news, analysis, insight and expert views for mortgage brokers and intermediaries.
Overall Purpose Of The Role
The News Editor will be responsible for managing news content across both brands and the monthly print edition of Mortgage Strategy. The role involves managing the content of four newsletters and ensuring that the website is regularly updated with relevant content in a timely manner, sourcing stories, writing and delegating content.
Key Responsibilities
Generating, writing and delegating news stories
Ensuring news is accurate and grammatically correct
Managing reporter output
Networking and attending industry events
Securing exclusive stories
Sending regular email news alerts (training provided)
Assisting the editor and deputy editor with magazine content and commercial projects
Making key contacts in the industry
Proofing content
Working with the editor to continually improve the proposition
Skills And Experience
Exemplary journalism skills both in producing valuable and insightful written content and editing own work and that of others
A minimum of two years experience on a news desk, ideally in financial journalism. Knowledge of the mortgage market preferred, but not essential
A strong sense for news and a drive to secure it
Experience interviewing senior business figures
The ability to learn quickly and work to tight deadlines
Good social and networking skills
The ability to work as part of a team

This excitingpositionis a full-time hybrid role. 2 days in the office, 3 daysfrom home. This could change over time depending on business needs.
