NewsNation is looking for a creative, hardworking, proactive Senior Booking Producer to lead the booking team of for a forthcoming weekend program. As the show’s senior booking producer, you will work with the show’s Executive Producer and Senior Producers on the show’s booking strategy. You will also supervise the booking team helping to make the team effective, efficient, and nimble. You will also be responsible for providing ongoing coaching and mentoring of the show’s booking producers.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Pitch stories and segment ideas daily
• Coordinate daily assignments for booking team
• Facilitate long-lead bookings and futures planning
• Utilize own extensive list of contacts to find and book high-profile guests, as well as people at the center of major news stories
• Confirm guests and coordinate logistics
• Conduct pre-interviews and in-depth research on range of topics
• Find reliable guests/witnesses quickly during breaking news situations
• Organize and produce elements for show segments
• Work closely with producers, talent, & management to ensure that the show identifies new voices who we should have appear on the program
• Liaise with other booking producers and show teams on network wide projects and assignments
• Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Producer and Senior Producers
Qualifications:
•BA/BS degree or equivalent degree in journalism or related field
•Five or more years’ experience in national or major-market news
•Must have strong news judgment
•Must have superior knowledge of current events
•Must be detail-oriented
•Must be self-directing, self-motivating and able to work will with a diverse group of people
•Must interact well with on-air talent, news managers, videographers, production, digital and engineering staff
•Must be able to handle stress, including short deadlines
•Must be able to work assigned shifts and be on call during overnights, mornings and weekends/holidays
• Experience with Lexis Nexis, ENPS would be valuable
Salary Range: $115,000 - $130,000 annualized.
