Court and Crime Reporter

New Posted 16 October 2023 | Bradford, West Yorkshire, England | Newsquest

The Telegraph and Argus is on the lookout for a court and crime reporter to form an important part of its news operations in Bradford.

We are looking for an experienced senior reporter with the hunger and bravery to root out hard news exclusives as well as provide the best court coverage for our readers.

Our nationwide network of court and crime reporters is among the best-performing journalists in the Newsquest group. This is your chance to join that top tier.

That is why we want much more than someone who sits in court – we are looking for a dynamic reporter capable of working on exclusive investigations, backgrounders, human interest stories and well-crafted news pieces around the big crime issues of the day, alongside the very best of what is happening in our courtrooms.

The right candidate will have extensive digital skills, experience covering court business and a full knowledge and understanding of the legal requirements. Most of all, they will have an eye for a story and the determination to get it, which will set them apart from the competition.

Experience working at the sharp end of a daily newsroom environment is essential, as is an in-depth knowledge of how to make a story work for a demanding digital and print audience as well as how to use the digital analytics tools at your disposal.

Working as part of a fully multi-media newsroom, the successful candidate will also be comfortable creating video content both in front and behind the camera.

This position requires the ability to work independently in the field, and as such a driving licence and access to a car would be an advantage.

Newsquest Media Group is one of the UK's largest newspaper and website publishers. As well as a competitive salary, we also offer generous benefits including:

Contributory pension
