Assignment Editor/Special News Projects

Participates in daily story meetings and supplies a comprehensive list of all possible news stories
Monitor police scanners for breaking news; dispatch photographers, reporters, and other personnel to cover stories
Tracks stories from all sources including government agencies, wire services and community groups; plans follow up/future news story coverage.
Assists with special news project coverage including court cases, elections, large scale regional events including International Home Furnishings Market and others.
Interacts with viewers via telephone, email and on social media sites
Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education/work-related experience
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Excellent organizational and subject research skills.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; fluency in English
Proficiency with computers, scanners and other office equipment
Flexibility to work any shift
