NJ Advance Media is looking for college juniors and seniors, including 2025 graduates, to fill ten-week Internships in news reporting.
These internships will be 40-hour-per-week paid positions, and will offer an opportunity to gain valuable experience covering breaking news, crime, courts and topical beats. We seek committed, digitally savvy journalists looking to launch their career by covering news that matters to the residents of New Jersey and telling those stories in compelling ways. During the course of the program, interns also will have access to training and career-development opportunities.
The pay rate for this position is $15.49/hour.
Ideal candidates will:
Be incoming juniors or seniors with a major in Journalism, Communications or a related field. We will consider recent graduates, and seniors graduating in May 2025.
Evidence of journalism experience either through previous internships or student media
Ability to work under deadline pressure and prioritize tasks appropriately
Demonstrated reporting, writing and organizational skills
Solid understanding of news writing, journalistic ethics and story structure
Experience with using social media to source and promote content a plus
Proficiency in social media and digital interaction
Ability to work remotely as well as in a newsroom setting
