Race, Class and Communities Reporter

New Posted 5 January 2024 | Chapel Hill, Durham, North Carolina | North Carolina Public Radio-WUNC

North Carolina Public Radio WUNC is hiring a Race, Class and Communities Reporter based in Durham.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

This position is responsible for general assignment reporting including quick turnaround spot news, interviews, reporter debriefings, anchor wraps, online reports and well-researched feature reports. This position has an emphasis on covering race, class, and communities. It is based in Durham, NC.

As news events do not conform to a regular 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule, there are times when the Race, Class, and Communities Reporter is called on for work during weekends and after hours.

WUNC is one of the more well-resourced public radio stations in the country. It is headquartered in the Triangle area (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) of North Carolina. The Triangle is often rated among the top areas to live in the country. The ocean and mountains are just a few hours away.
