The NY Daily News is looking for a reporter to work the night General Assignment desk, focusing largely on national breaking, entertainment and celebrity news. This is a fast-paced, high-energy job that requires tracking developments in real time, spotting compelling and viral developments and turning around stories quickly, clearly and accurately. The ideal candidate must possess strong writing skills; initiative; creativity; good news judgment; attention to detail; self-direction; the ability to multitask and meet deadlines; the ability and desire to work with a team; a strong command of the English language and a commitment to accuracy. They should have a sophisticated understanding of digital trends, social media and audience metrics. This reporter may also at times coordinate with the city desk on local stories. This is a nightside position, with weekend shifts possible.
