The New York Post Lifestyle Department is looking for an Associate Editor/Reporter (Tuesday-Saturday 4pm-12am) to edit and produce digital lifestyle and entertainment content in addition to writing some stories. The ideal candidate has at least three years’ experience editing lifestyle/entertainment content at a digital news publication, and must think creatively, work collaboratively and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This role requires a level of autonomy — with the ability to self-publish when needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
Help assign, edit and produce compulsively readable lifestyle and some entertainment stories
Collaborate with SEO, video and social media teams to maximize digital traffic
Produce ideas for trending features stories and execute them under tight deadlines
Edit content for clarity, while keeping text bright and lively
Write SEO- and social media-friendly headlines that grab the reader
Take on writing assignments when needed
Requirements:
At least three years of experience editing at a news or lifestyle publication
Proficient at WordPress/similar CMS
Strong understanding of SEO best practices
Track record of editing lifestyle stories with compelling human-interest angles
Ability to package stories for maximum impact
Ability to quickly pivot direction while juggling multiple responsibilities on deadline
Must be flexible and willing to cover award shows and events (outside of working schedule) when necessary

Salary Range: $31,200 – $125,000
