The New York Post is seeking an experienced City Hall Reporter who can thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
Regularly work out of City Hall with focus on the Mayor’s Office and City Council
Break exclusive stories on a competitive beat
Cut through the jargon to tell Post readers the compelling stories in a down-to-earth voice
Ideal candidates will:
Have strong news-gathering skills and be able to quickly write clear, concise, accurate copy
Have investigative skills, including knowledge of city contracts, lobbying records, etc.
Have covered the Mayor’s Office, City Council or other facets of New York City or major government offices
Come into the position with solid city government sources and expand on them in the new administration
Have a working knowledge of SEO and social-media best practices
Have at least three years of experience in a major, breaking news operation-print newspaper experience a plus
Flexibility to cover important matters on weekends and evenings, as needed

Salary Range: $31,200 – $125,000
