Content Area or Department Brief Description

The Early Childhood Integrated Systems (ECIS) content area addresses systems and policies for children age birth to eight and their families. Projects in this area build the capacity of state-level or large-scale mixed-delivery early childhood systems through cross-sector, integrated service delivery, policy guidance, system-building efforts, and initiatives to support the whole child, whole family, and whole community.

The Opportunity

The Early Childhood Integrated Systems team in WestEd’s Division 2 seeks a part-time, temporary Online Professional Development Content Writer. This person will be responsible for writing original content that leverages existing resources related to implicit bias and trauma-informed practices in early learning and care.

The Online Professional Development Content Writer will work closely with the project director and the project team to develop high-quality content in text and digital learning formats following a specified quality assurance process. The Content Expert and Writer must have effective communication, writing, and time management skills.

Core Focus Areas

Write original content for online professional learning modules based on a deep understanding of adult learning theory, equitable practices, and content-specific knowledge.
Collaborate with designers to convey and deliver the content in digital learning experiences.
Respond to reviewer feedback to edit drafts within the set timeframe.
Recommend, draft, and curate resources to support learning.
Adapt writing to requirements such as plain language and accessibility considerations.

What We’re Looking For

MS in Education (or comparable work experience).
Strong knowledge of the current and historical research and practices for trauma-informed practices in early learning and care settings.
Strong knowledge of the current and historical research and practices for implicit bias, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in early learning and care settings.
Strong knowledge of equity-based adult learning theories.
Experience developing professional learning, especially for online modules.
Ability to incorporate project- and funder-specific content requirements and guidelines.
Experience working with project managers, project coordinators, editors, and proofreaders.
Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
Reliable, effective, and communicative in a remote team environment.
Ability to work with high levels of concentration and accuracy under tight timelines.
Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with WestEd teams.
Skilled in using Microsoft Word and comfortable using document-sharing systems such as Box.
Experience using online content development tools such as Articulate Rise (preferred).
Bilingual in Spanish or Chinese (preferred).

SALARY:

Salary for this temporary, hourly paid role is $62.50/hour.
