About the role.

Our Deputy Political Editor has been poached so we need a top quality political reporter to take his place and help provide national and international media with the latest breaking news from Westminster and beyond.

In the year of a general election, this role could not be more important or exciting.

You will collaborate closely with the Political Editor to oversee a team of dedicated political reporters in the Palace of Westminster.

What you’ll be doing.

Filing fast, accurate and fair copy on the biggest breaking political stories in Westminster and further afield
Producing exclusives and original political journalism
Playing a leadership role within PA's team at Westminster, supporting the work of the Political Editor
Producing compelling analysis and explaination of the main political developments
Working closely with the news desk to ensure comprehensive coverage of the day's most important stories and helping to keep the diary of future events updated
Working closely with PA customers, whether local, national or international

What you’ll need.

Excellent contacts and the ability to pull in exclusives, investigations, and big interviews
The initiative to file off-beat stories as well as breaking political news
The confidence to promote your own stories and the work of PA via social media and through broadcast interviews
A lot of enthusiasm and a deep understanding of UK politics

Do you have?

Substantial experience of national or regional UK political and/or policy reporting
Exceptional shorthand
An NCTJ or equivalent qualification
