Part-Time Healthcare/Cybersecurity Journalist

About the role

We're looking for a part-time journalist (5-10 hours per week) to source and conduct interviews with healthcare compliance and cybersecurity experts. You'll be responsible for obtaining unique quotes and insights on current HIPAA violations, data breaches, regulatory changes, and emerging best practices in healthcare security.

Key Responsibilities

Research and identify relevant industry experts, regulators, and thought leaders
Conduct phone/video interviews to gather original quotes and insights
Document and organize interview content for our writing team
Stay current on HIPAA news, notable breaches, and compliance trends
Work collaboratively with our content team to identify newsworthy angles

What you'll need to have:

Journalism experience or education (degree not required)
Excellent interview skills and professional phone manner
Basic understanding of healthcare compliance and/or cybersecurity concepts (or willingness to learn)
Strong written and verbal communication
Self-motivated with ability to work independently
Experience with tight deadlines and fast-paced work environments

It would be nice if you also had:

Previous experience covering healthcare, technology, or regulatory topics
Existing network of contacts in healthcare compliance or cybersecurity
Understanding of HIPAA regulations and compliance challenges
