Editor I plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality, speed and volume of longform and shortform video content across various platforms including on-air broadcast, digital and OTT platform. Primary responsibility will be to review, edit, and package media assets following PBS technical standards and guidelines. Work closely with Content Ops staff, technicians and external partners to shape content that aligns with the company’s brand style, tone, and objectives. Utilize industry standard hardware, software, and third-party applications to edit A/V content for PBS clients that meet or exceed their expectations.
Key Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To
Provide all services related to basic non-linear editing, technical evaluation, media management and both baseband and digital delivery over IP.
Use non-linear editing system to create packaged products as assigned which meet all PBS Technical Operations Specifications
Repair programs, including but not limited to, replacing underwriters/credit beds.
Create breaks, fillers, clip reels, next on tease, funders, banners and simple effects.
Create broadcast air master and backup files.
Prepare materials offline for finishing and delivery such as mix downs, conforms, embedded AAFs, etc.
Manage the shared file storage on a regular basis to ensure they are not occupying exorbitant amounts of space. Prompt deletion or transfer of files must be followed.
Operate industry standard production gear such as VTRs, VTMs, Loudness Monitoring and Captioning applications in support of program feeds, records, dub requests per SOPs and guidelines.
Perform technical evaluations on program submissions to ensure that they meet PBS technical operations standards or non-broadcast delivery specifications.
Report suspected equipment failures in a timely manner.
Keep Scheduling Associate and management informed of client concerns, requests, suspected billing, work order or scheduling adjustment issues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements for success:
Undergraduate degree in Broadcasting, Art, Design, Digital Media or equivalent experience in television with industry certifications
Minimum 3 years of video editing experience in a television or post-production facility
3 or more years of hands-on experience in Non-Linear Editing; Adobe Creative Suite of products (After Effects, Premiere, etc) and/or Avid Media Composer at the broadcast level is a must.
Other Skills/Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of analog and digital television, video, audio, closed captioning, AD, subtitling, AQC, Vantage Transcode products, etc
Working knowledge of component digital waveform and audio monitors
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Ability to adapt to an ever changing and dynamic environment.
Ability to prioritize and multitask.
Good client management skills with strong attention to customer service
Good judgment and follow-through skills
Good oral and written communication skills
This position may require some evening and/or weekend work
