The Production Assistant is responsible for providing a diverse range of writing, research, editing, video production, and reporting services to support the work of the three national news programs produced at WETA: PBS NewsHour, Washington Week and PBS News Weekend. The schedule for this role is Wednesday-Sunday.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide production assistance to producers and team creating these three broadcasts, using media asset management tools, online web research, and video editing programs, such as Premiere Pro, Avid and Final Cut Pro.
Log live and pre-recorded events, maintain video log tracking system, and help to manage on-site and off-site video storage and help to sort most relevant editorial information using independent editorial judgment and working in collaboration as needed.
Identify video, graphic and still photo elements needed to enhance these broadcast productions.
Independently research and fulfill video and online research requests from producers.
Represent the company externally and internally in the gathering and distribution of video.
Operate computer graphics system, such as Chyron.
Perform related special projects or other duties as assigned.
