Political Reporter

We are seeking a skilled and experienced 1099 Freelance Political Reporter to join our team at The Rhino Times as a Political Reporter, you will be responsible for tracking newsworthy events and developments in the designated area of operation. You will play a crucial role in producing timely and accurate news articles, attending and reporting on events, and conducting in-depth interviews. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in journalism, politics, economics, or international relations and possess excellent communication and research skills.

Responsibilities:

Tracking Newsworthy Events: Stay updated on political developments, policy changes, and events in the designated area of operation.
Article Writing: Research, write, and edit 2-3 high-quality articles per day, ensuring accuracy and adherence to journalistic standards.
Event Coverage: Attend and report on designated political events, conferences, rallies, and meetings.
Interviews: Conduct interviews with eyewitnesses, authorities, and people of interest to gather relevant information for news stories.
Transcribing and Summarizing: Transcribe interviews and summarize events for detailed and coherent news reporting.
Travel: Travel to events and locations as required for news coverage.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other members of the reporting team to ensure comprehensive and well-rounded news coverage.
Professionalism: Maintain a professional appearance, language use, and manner throughout reports and interactions with interviewees and colleagues.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a specialized field such as politics, economics, or international relations.
Experience: Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in journalism or related fields.
Skills: Ethical and professional research and reporting skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to form and ask probing questions during interviews. Passionate about news and current events. Well-spoken, engaging, and knowledgeable about news events. Critical thinking, meticulous, and excellent recall of facts. Strong interpersonal and rapport-building skills.
