Senior National Security and Justice Editor

New Posted 23 September 2022 | Arlington, VA | POLITICO

POLITICO is seeking an experienced editor to lead our coverage of national security, foreign policy and legal affairs. The editor will oversee a team of reporters covering agencies from the National Security Council and State Department to the Pentagon and Justice Department, as well as our bureau in Canada. Finally, this editor will help launch and then oversee a new legal affairs team. This is a big job in a growing area of coverage for POLITICO, with the potential for significant expansion in the coming years. We are looking for candidates who bring an entrepreneurial spirit to their work and who love to collaborate. A key part of this editor’s work will be teaming up with colleagues in Europe, on daily stories and ambitious long-term projects, as we integrate our newsrooms. The ability to drive coverage in our sweet spot — connecting power centers from Sacramento to Brussels, Washington to Beijing — is a must. The mandate across all these teams is to drive POLITICO’s coverage on how and why major decisions are made — and the people who make them.
