POLITICO is seeking an enterprising reporter to cover a beat central to our lives: sustainability. You’ll write about corporate governance, social and environmental debates that are shaping key decisions in Washington. The beat encompasses stakeholder capitalism, cars, electricity, supply chains and much more. You’ll deliver journalism across all platforms of POLITICO including stories, newsletters and events. You’ll be a contributor to The Long Game, our popular flagship publication written for and about high-level decision-makers driving action on sustainability while policy struggles to catch up. The ideal reporter will be able to cover policymakers as well as actors outside of government: corporations and their leaders, global standard-setting bodies, industry associations, pensions and other large investors and watchdog groups. You’ll be conversant in, or able to learn, several languages in this space including capital markets and finance, transportation, energy, agriculture, law, economics and the sciences of climate, biodiversity and waste. The ideal candidate will be able to translate these complex subjects into clear and compelling news stories, produce scoops, and deliver accountability in a space that is undergoing rapid change with little oversight.
