Strategic Data Systems is a mature, small business that provides innovative IT solutions to the US government. The successful applicant will be responsible for writing, editing, and developing original and engaging proposal solutions including, but not limited to, executive summaries, as well as technical, management, and past performance writeups. The role requires expertise in technical written communication, experience with Federal Government procurements, and the ability to translate requirements into persuasive, compliant prose. Experience in SharePoint is preferred, and solid knowledge of the MS Office application is required. The ideal candidate performs well under tight deadlines and is well versed in explaining complex technical information in a clear and concise manner. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepares bids, proposals, task orders, process specifications, test and progress reports, and other exhibits that may be required in accordance with proposal development process.
Develops MS Word templates that incorporate requirements and integrates narrative and visual solution components.
Support proposal management and senior leadership in developing proposal content.
Familiarity with the Federal acquisition process, with an emphasis on Government contracting.
Ability to develop, organize, write and edit proposal content.
Ability to work with internal teams to learn about IT solutioning, tools, standards, and best practices.
Produce high-quality proposals that meet applicable standards.
Research, develop and document technical design, and content.
Maintain a comprehensive library of boilerplate.
Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content.
Manage updates and revisions to technical literature.
Maintains proposal folder structure and version archives.
Coordinates “data calls” and works with subcontractors to develop compliant proposal solutions.
Coordinates company resources to ensure compliant responses to RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, and task orders.
Writes, edits, and formats proposals for submission to customer.
Helps develop company solutions, in coordination with subject matter experts, to ensure compliant proposal responses.
Develops basic graphics, as needed (not necessary, but appreciated!)
Experience, Education, Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
3-5 years proposal work experience.
Shipley training preferred.
Competencies:
Proven working experience in proposal and technical writing preferred.
Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to write and copyedit in “plain English.”
Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking.
Expertise in MS Office suite and SharePoint is important; expertise in Word required (ability to work with Styles, Formatting tools, tables, graphics, etc.) is required.
Technical writing and editing best practices, as well as version controls, is preferred.
